Another incredible and memorable year of uOttaHack ❤️ About two years ago, I founded a team of 18 students to organize our university’s first in-person hackathon since 2020. I’m not suppose to say this, but at the beginning I had no clue how things would go. We had quite a rocky start! From day one, we had a daunting list of tasks, each one appearing more costly than the last. My only hope was that at least one student would leave feeling inspired to explore tech beyond the classroom—but we were lucky to end up with an entire community eager to build, learn, and look forward to future events. So proud of the team!!

What is uOttaHack?

uOttaHack is the University of Ottawa’s student-led hackathon event. A hackathon is essentially an idea marathon where students collaborate to solve real-world technical challenges. This year, we hosted over 650 students from across North America and partnered with 20 sponsors, including Ford, AWS, Solace, and others. We were supported by numerous fantastic mentors and volunteers. Most importantly, the event was filled with opportunities for learning, making friends, and having fun!
